Hello Everyone! Sorry for the hiatus there. Posting from home is a bit of a chore, and things have been hectic at the office as well. But finally, here are some more pics!

Here's Jen's Mom, Grandma Shields, meeting Addie for the first time!



I must say that people ask me quite often how our mutt Charlie is with Addie. He is absolutely wonderful! He gets very anxious when she is upset, and looks up at us with his ears up, whining, encouraging us to care for her as expeditiously as possible. He also lay down next to her, and even wanted to put a brotherly paw on her, but with his nails, we were unable to let him do so, and he became a bit confused, the poor mutt.


Well anyway, I hope you enjoyed today's pics, and also I hope we'll get a chance to post some more soon!

We're Home!

Sorry we didn't get a chance to post yesterday, but we all made it home yesterday afternoon! Addie enjoyed her first ride in the car, but she thought the sun was a tad on the bright side. Once we got settled in, Jason and Jo joined us for a gourmet pizza dinner (aka Papa John's), bearing, quite possibly the largest stuffed animal I have ever seen, and what is every part of roughly 8 times the size of Adelyn! Everyone is doing well. I'm mainly trying not to let Jen over do it (yeah, wish me luck, right?!). She's doing so well with the baby and working on breastfeeding, I'm so proud of her. I knew she'd be a great mom!

We're also trying to figure out the best way to post pics from home. Seems that our Internet connections (slow and slower) are both reducing the quality of the images that we upload, even in "non-accelerated" mode. So we'll figure something out. Meanwhile, enjoy these pics, despite their apparent low resolution.

Packing Up!

Sorry we don't have any pictures this time, but we're getting ready to head home! Both Addie and Jen have gotten clean bills of health from the docs so we're going to start checking out of the hospital. We'll definitely post homecoming pics later on today. Thanks again to everyone for everything! We are so fortunate in so many ways. Ok, back to packing. More later!

More Visitors!

Many thanks to Daniela and Lee for coming by the hospital this afternoon! It was very sweet of you guys to come and visit, and Addie sure enjoyed meeting you!

All signs are pointing to going home tomorrow. We have had a fantastic stay. Everyone here at Prince William Hospital has been so nice, so warm, friendly, full of genuine concern and compassion, completely competant, and all around first rate. Having said that, we are both ready to take our little bundle home with us, and I'm sure Charlie would appreciate our coming home full time as well. We've felt bad that we haven't been able to spend as much time with him as usual this week, but we'll make it up to him! Besides, he gets to see Grandma tomorrow too, so that will be a treat for him for sure!

Daddy I'm Hungry!

I just had the priviledge of feeding my precious daughter some supplemental formula, captured here by Aunt Bekah during her visit, while Jen was figuring out how to use the breast pump (not pictured).

Aunt Bekah stopped by this afternoon to meet Addie, bearing beautiful flowers and a tremendously thoughtful card from everyone at the Naval Media Center. Thank you guys so much! It's very sweet to know that we are in your thoughts! And many thanks to Aunt Bekah for coming by!

Good Morning!

Addie this morning after an attempt at breastfeeding, modeling her bunny hat. She's still getting the hang of feeding, but we're sure it'll be really soon!

Daddy's getting ready to head back to the house to spring the mutt and pick up a few things to bring back to the hospital. Mommy's doing well, not having too much pain, just uncomfortable. The nurses here have been just wonderful, and we are grateful for all of their help!

She's Here!

Update: I must have misunderstood in the OR -- she's actually 6 lbs. 8 ounces -- they must have said 6.5. Anyhow, she's also 19 1/2 inches long!

We welcomed our beautiful Addie this morning at 11:23! She's 6 lbs., 8 oz., length TBD (she's in the nursery right now). Mom and Addie are doing just fine. So far we can tell that she's got Daddy's cheeks and lips and Mommy's nose. We'll never forget hearing her first cries in the delivery room! We're just so elated that she's finally here!

Almost Here!

Well, the day has almost arrived! All the preparations have been made, the nursery is ready, and we are very excited (to put it mildly) to meet Addie tomorrow morning!

For now, we are getting ready for a largely uninspiring Superbowl. I think we'll probably end up rooting for the commercials! If I have to pick a team, I suppose I'll keep it in-conference and go with the Giants. But I think we all know who the winner will be.
